Was ordering my favourite coffee, freddo espresso no sugar (if you’ve never tried it, you should give it a go, being Greek I can’t live without it especially, in the summertime) and I couldn’t help it but overhear another customer talking with the barista. He was working his whole life to pay debts and save money for retirement only to see all his savings vanish during the 2008 recession and now, being further hit by the coronavirus and devastated that what he has been working for his whole life is all gone…completely gone. I’ll never forget how desperate this guy sounded. It was in that moment that I realised that the coronavirus is the death of the economy as we know it. Due to the coronavirus crisis, jobless claims have hit crazy records. We’ve never seen anything like it before. For generations, we’ve been raised to go to school, get a job, pay our debts and save for retirement. It has all been about job security. This has been our ultimate goal. Suddenly, the concept of job security is no longer relevant. It simply, cannot be guaranteed. Employees are fired or furloughed and companies are seeking for more cost effective ways to run using artificial intelligence. We’re entering a new era where financial freedom is more important than job security and the only way forward is to transform our lives by moving from an employee mindset to an entrepreneurial one.

Childhood friends of mine are looking for a job. Volleyball teammates are looking for a job. Everywhere you turn, people are looking for a job.
If I asked you whether you would want to transform financially, I bet your answer would be hell yes. Chances are, my friends above, would answer yes too. But why aren’t you? Why aren’t you becoming an entrepreneur to transform yourself financially? Because job security is ingrained in your mind. Becoming an entrepreneur seems risky to you. You would rather get a job that provides you with safety and security.
I’ll be blunt with you. There is no such thing as a safe and secure job. The coronavirus crisis has made this clearer than ever. Being an employee is the riskiest decision you could ever make.
Once upon a time, I was in your shoes. Got good grades in school, got a degree, got a safe and secure job as a personal trainer. My life path shifted however, when I opened my own gym. It shifted from a path focused on job security to a path focused on financial freedom. It was hard and often, I wanted to give up but I learned the most important skill to create the freedom lifestyle I deserved.
I transformed my life choosing growth over safety and security and do not regret it at all.
The economy has changed fundamentally and the coronavirus crisis is here to stay. I’m glad I’m an entrepreneur in control of my own destiny something an employee can simply not do.
Why people adopt an employee mindset and seek for job security.
People seek for job security because this is what they are taught at home and school. We are conditioned to aim for job security rather than financial freedom. We aren’t taught the slightest thing about money so it is natural to reach for job security and not financial freedom.
Most would want financial freedom but have not been trained to reach for it. As a result, they reach for job security.
In order to reach for financial freedom, you need to transform your life. You need to adopt a new attitude and begin a new educational process.
How to transform your life and reach for financial freedom.
You need a major shift in your mindset about money. Shifting from the employee mindset to the entrepreneur mindset is crucial. The first thing you need to do is take advantage of the free time that you have due to the coronavirus crisis. Consider this as an opportunity to think differently and learn something new. Start a side business and become an entrepreneur.
