Namecheap vs Bluehost Review

When I started my new online business, I naturally had to make a website for it. When I was building my website, I found that having a generic domain name hindered the professionalism of my business. In my research, I found many different domain sites available.

To help new and upcoming business owners, I have created a review to compare Namecheap vs. Bluehost.

Both Bluehost and Namecheap have so much to offer but which hosting provider is better?

Here is my Namecheap vs Bluehost review

Things to Consider Before Buying Domain Names and Web Hosting Services

Having a generic domain name can turn people off from your site. In this current day and age, people like to feel a personal connection to companies and businesses. One of the easiest ways to bring this feeling to your customers is to make sure that your website is as personalized as possible.

No matter what kind of business you are running, having a good website is important. Websites are one of the best ways for businesses to sell information, products, and services. They also allow potential customers to get in contact with businesses.

An upcoming business will want to find tools that will help them build their websites. These tools can range from domain registration to web hosts and anything in between. But not all tools are created equal.

There are multiple things that you should look for before choosing a domain registrar or web hosting provider.

  • Know how much money you are working with. Some domain sites can have hidden fees or can end up charging you more than is really needed. Have an established budget, and do thorough research before committing to a site.
  • Make your domain easy to remember. Your domain name should be simple but should also stand out from your competition. Find a site that can allow you to be as creative as you need to be.
  • What are you selling? Have a strong idea of not only what you are selling but how you want to market that service to your audience. Is your audience young? Then you’ll want to find tools that can help you keep a young audience entertained while going through your site.

Also, don’t forget to check whether the vendor offers a refund option such a 30 day money back guarantee in case you are not happy with their service and a 24 7 customer support team and live chat feature or phone support in case you need help. A free SLL certificate is also a common bonus.

Presenting Bluehost vs Namecheap

Namecheap is a hosting web site to buy domain names and other general tools to help build a customized webpage. Namecheap offers domains, security plans, social media management, and WordPress hosting packages at many different prices and plans to help you get the best of what you need.

These options are great for new businessmen and women to help get online. If you already have a professional team of coders working for you, this won’t be necessary. If you are looking to create and customize a personable webpage with the ease of tools, you’ve come to the right place.

Apart from Namecheap, there are also alternative sites such as Bluehost.

Bluehost is a similar site that can also help you build and host websites and domains. Both sites offer WordPress hosting, domain names, and even consultation with professionals to help you find what you need for your online business

Features & Benefits Namecheap And Bluehost

There are many great features that Namecheap offers for those looking to build their website from the ground up. One of Namecheap’s best things is the variety of tools that they offer and the affordable prices of those tools. While we recommend doing some research of your own to have a knowledge base, we will break down the main features of Namecheap.

Domain Names

Having your own domain name is one of the first and perhaps one of the most crucial steps in building a website. There are many different domains to choose from besides the standard .com we are used to seeing. Each domain type serves its own purpose.

While .com tends to be the cheapest option, there is also .net, .dev, and .org available. The domain that you choose should be based upon your profit needs. For example, .org is typically used for non-profit organizations.

There are some more independently-run domains, such as .dev, a domain run by Google itself. This domain is much more recent than some of the other ones.

If you are selling goods and services or selling anything in general, you’ll most likely want to stick with .com. Namecheap also offers very cheap domains, so browse around and see what catches your eye, and suits your needs.

The variety in options is a nice way to prevent you from feeling trapped or limited in your domain name. While you won’t want to be too wordy or fancy, it is nice to have the option of being creative. Customers are more likely to remember a name that stands out among the rest.

WordPress

WordPress is consistently one of the most popular ways to host a website, and they have been in the game for years. Naturally, many sites cater to WordPress, and Namecheap is no exception.

Namecheap offers managed WordPress hosting and shared hosting at low prices. This is great if you have already started your website on WordPress and don’t want to start over. The WordPress management function is also suitable for you if you are simply looking to expand on your existing WordPress site.

Namecheap provides the option to quickly start up a new website or expand on your current WordPress site. Both Bluehost and Namecheap offer shared hosting but the Bluehost plans are more static and less customizable. The variety of plans for shared hosting is what draws a lot of newcomers to Namecheap.

Web Hosting Plans

Apart from offering domain names, Namecheap also has many hosting plans available. These options include managed WordPress hosting, shared hosting plans, professional emails, and VPS hosting.

A VPS is a virtual private server, allowing you to have more security when generating traffic on your server. This option can be very helpful if you are worried about the security of your server space.

Namecheap’s professional email hosting plans can give you a space to hold all business and customer-related emails. With Namecheap, there are three professional email plans available, and the bigger the web host plan you choose, the more storage you get for your emails.

While emailing may seem unimportant in today’s society, it is still an essential part of businesses’ communication. However, emails are also easy to lose track of, and they pile up quickly. Having a system to organize your emails will save you a lot of time in the future and prevent you from missing a particularly important email.

If you plan to have more than one website for your business, then you may want to consider the shared hosting plans. Typically, the more websites that you have, the more likely you are to reign in future customers.

Being able to host multiple websites is also nice if you are trying to reach different types of audiences. You can make one website geared towards a demographic of 18-24, for example, and another website for a demographic of 30-45.

Having the option to host multiple websites can eliminate the worry of putting all of your eggs in one basket. It is also a good way to manage your websites more easily than hosting them on individual sites.

Security

When it comes to having an online business, security is among the top priorities. Security is especially important when dealing with touchy information, such as your or your customer’s bank information.

There are many ways to have your information abused or stolen. As technology advances, so do hackers. While a breach of online security can be a financial threat, it can also cause safety issues. A lot of critical personal information, such as your address, can be discovered through emails and bank accounts.

Luckily, to ease these worries, Namecheap offers many ways to bring you online security. If you are worried about your security being breached via email or other forms of communication, consider getting an SSL, or secure sockets layer.

However, Namecheap also offers VPNs. These are different from the aforementioned VPS, as VPNs encrypt your web traffic data and allow you to send and receive information safely. When first starting my online business, security was one of my biggest worries.

As the internet is a swiftly-changing concept, it is essential to take your security seriously. Scammers and hackers are always finding new ways to breach data, so investing in a VPN or other security-related plan is well worth it.

Promos

Aside from all of the other great options on Namecheap, one of the greatest benefits is the number of discounts and promotions offered.

Not everybody has a lot of money to put into their online business right away. While both Bluehost and Namecheap offer relatively low prices, Namecheap has an entire section dedicated to promos.

With each plan on Namecheap, there are at least two different pricing options. I wished that I had known about Namecheap when I was building my online business, as having that many financial options would have been a huge relief.

Social Proof

Don’t just take our word when considering Namecheap. When I was in the beginning steps of building my online business, I came across many positive reviews about Namecheap.

Plenty of users have tried and loved the domain site and have many great things to say about it. To give a good idea about what people are saying about Namecheap, here are some of the most positive examples found online.

Alternatives

Namecheap doesn’t always work for everyone. Different people have different needs, and when it comes to your online business, we want you to have what works for you. For this reason, we are going to cover the best Namecheap alternatives.

Bluehost

We’ve already mentioned Bluehost a couple of times, but let’s have a look at what Namecheap offers?

Bluehost and Namecheap have many of the same options. Bluehost is a site dedicated to providing domains, professional email hosting, and shared hosting plans. They have plans tailored for different types of businesses, such as e-commerce.

They also provide consultation to help you find the right plan for your online business. If you’re still figuring out the ropes of starting an online business, it can be a huge help to have professionals guiding you through the beginning process.

Bluehost has a good selection of packages that include plans ranging from basic to premium prices. While their prices tend to be a little bit higher than Namecheap, they are still decently affordable. If this sounds like what you’re looking for in this Bluehost vs Namecheap comparison, it can’t hurt to check it out.

GoDaddy

GoDaddy is another reliable domain site and web host. They have domain names, web designer services, web hosting, SSL certificates, and even Office 365.

As of 2020, GoDaddy is offering free tools and services to help those who may be struggling to get their start in the pandemic. When they are not offering these services, their prices are still affordable.

If web design is not your specialty (don’t worry, we all have to start somewhere), you can hire a professional to do the web design for you. Besides professional web design, they also have a customer support team on call to give you any advice you may need while building your website.

If you’re looking for a business that is professional and intuitive, give GoDaddy a try.

Domain.com

Domain.com is the second cheapest domain site, next to Namecheap, specializing in domains and website building.

They also provide SSL security and other forms of website protection. Domain.com has a customer support team to help you answer any questions you may have with their website. You can also speak with a professional to help design your website.

Domain.com is a little less user-friendly than the other alternatives, which may pose an issue if you are a newcomer to building a website. However, if you already have experience with web design and building, then give Domain.com a chance.
